THE ONLY THING GAMERS AGREE ON

With TELUS PureFibre Internet recently being named the best internet for gaming by multiple oulets, TELUS wanted to get the word out to gamers. This presented a unique problem as gamers tend to be a demographic that is extra cynical when it comes to being marketed to. We decided to take this problem and turn it into our concept, by letting gamers speak for themselves to their peers creating an authentic presentation of the product. So we hit Bashfest — one of the Lower Mainland’s biggest gaming tournaments— and got real life gamers in front of the camera to get their thoughts. Obviously there was a ton of difference in opinion in the gamers we spoke to but the one thing that they all agreed on was that PureFibre was the best internet for gaming.

We didn’t stop at just creating boring old testimonial videos though, we added extra layer of thumb-stopping skiip-reducing fun to every video.by layering in all sorts of overlays, graphics and inside jokes for our audience to enjoy. In the end, this campaign became one of TELUS’s most successful and popular internet campaigns—ever. Hundreds of comments, thousands of likes and the lowest cost per acquisition in company history, earning bronze at the 2021 Effies.
